Pinocchio di Cioccolato

The Pinocchio of Modica is a large sitting puppet completely covered by chocolate. It is at least 5 metres tall. It has geometrical shapes because it is built from carton boxes held together by glue. The structure is completely made up of recycled carton. The melted chocolate is applied with the painting tools, brush and spatula, typically used by construction workers, letting it adhere to the cellulose surface. The surface releases the characteristic smell of cocoa, a message of abundance and sweetness, optimism and hope. The work of art, individual and collective at the same time, is part of an operation dedicated to the “dolci bugie” promoted by the artist Jonida Xherri. It was exposed in the courtyard of the Modica city hall from November 2018 to January 2019.
