Palazzo Vecchio
2003
Created in October 2003, ‘Palazzo Vecchio’ was a scale model of the eponymous government building. Utilizing 7 tons of vacuum-packed rice, each packet weighed between 0.5-1 kilo. Realized over eight days in Piazza Ognissanti, the model remained there for ten days at a height of 5 meters. One part of the piazza was occupied by the pallets of rice, while the other part held the platform with the construction which took on the appearance of the powerful building. After three weeks, the rice began to arrive in the places where it had been sent for consumption in children’s communities in Tanzania and Romania. In collaboration with the City of Florence, Simone Siliani, Niccolò Angeli, and Luca Buzzichelli.
